Revel Paint Mixing Tips and Hints

I'm using only revel email paint and everything is going smoothly. But I need some colors that are obtained by mixing 2 colors in required % ( for example: brown, silkly-mattt 381 34% + rust, matt 83, 66%).
How to do this?
Well, the colors can be mixed in open air as long as the new color is stored in a air-tight container. I usually try a trial mixture(small amount to test) by using individual drops from a brush dipped in color. It is important to keep record of how many drops per color to get the one you need. Use the same ratio but in larger amount to mix more paint, enough for what you need. I usually mix mine in old plastic film canisters as the lids snap on for storage.
I do not consider using the right color from other brand of paint as I want to use only Revell colors.

We it's not too late and the kit is fun enough, but the Summary: "An easy to build reproduction and a good starter kit" just says it all.
Never the less I shall write a review about this kit too. :P

Building Cruiser Prinz Eugen from Revell

I'm half way in finishing this ship model, Cruiser Prinz Eugen. In my first post I explained why I choose this mode and talked about the paint, without even starting building the model.
Now that a I half way I can give more accurate details about this.
Just after opening the box I was surprised to see that the parts had a lot of excess plastic stuck on them and that the small parts were roughly shaped. Some pieces were so small that I was really hard to tell from where the plastic should be cut.

The paint is recommended to be done in 2 layers but the email paint is so thick that some tine it may covet the small details. So be careful not to put on too much paint!

The parts fit well in their designated place, and even the glue, Contacta, helps a lot as it is acetone based and the plastic tend to shrink/melt when applied. Also the acetone base contact should be used with  care because put in excess it can melt the plastic if is not thick.

None of the things I mentioned above are an impediment in building and enjoying this model. Also I would like to suggest you to make use of the masking tape for painting the details

My New Hobby

it's been a long time since I last completed a scale model. Since I was 11 or 12 years old. I can't compare the models that I was making than with what I'm making now. At that time I was more "playing" than relay enjoying it. The models I was getting were simple and no paint job was needed. The stickers was all the design they had.

Now I am  making more complex models that request a paint job also. A friend of mine recommended me to start with Italieri models but I couldn't find any Italieri paint so I ended up with Cruiser Prinz Eugen 1:720 from Revell

The best thing about Revell was that they have a large variety of paint for their models. The choice is real impressive and they even have water base paint and email paint. I don't know the real difference between water base and email paint but in terms of convenience the water, Aqua colors have some clear advantages: it drys in only 1 hour for the second coating and it drys completely in only 2-3 hours,  it is water-dilutable and most important the brush can be cleaned with water. Unfortunately I bought email base paint..... a pain in the ass to clean the brush every time with thinner/diluant.
